In labourious and dangerous work, they created the Prati dell’Armentara meadows wonder world in harmony with nature, which ignites a firework of natural attractions. The lush green meadows and pastures tell the exciting story of a centuries-old meadow culture and fascinate visitors with a dreamlike sea of flowers and countless rare animal species. The legendary Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park combines all the treasures of the Dolomites mythical landscape. Green Alpine meadows, rugged peaks, quiet mountain lakes and an incomparable flora and fauna result in a breathtaking explosion of colours, waters and ways of life. The park, which also provides access to hike Pragser Wildsee lake or the famous Three Peaks, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009.
The Ladin culture is omnipresent and lively in the local cuisine, too. Although the everyday life of early mountain farmers was defined by hard work and deprivation, they did not allow themselves to be held back in their exuberant zest for life. Simple ingredients and exclusively local products prepared following ancient, traditional recipes give expression to this fact. The main dishes on the table are made from potatoes, bacon, cereals and dairy products, which are transformed into exquisite home made sausages, speck-flavoured dumplings, dumplings with Tyrolean grey cheese or apple strudel, and are able to impress even the most discerning of top chefs.
