I think I have every right to say that I have turned my hobby into a career. I spend every day working on matters surrounding hiking and I travel to Europe’s most beautiful hiking destinations both professionally and personally.
Lake Millstätter See, the jewel in the Carinthian lake landscape, links three fascinating mountain ranges and rivers on its tranquil shores in an extremely artistic manner. Together with a number of passionate garden artists, nature has created an enchanting landscape garden that has always delighted and inspired people.
Romantically dreamy bays, a mythical mountain world and lots of winding alleys and paths make Seeboden stand out as a sparkling gem from the other villages on the Carinthian lakeshores. Nature has performed a true miracle here – with the help of some creative garden artists. Idyllic parks filled with the scent of roses, exotic bonsai gardens steeped in meditative silence, and picturesque “village squares” all draw the picture of a paradisiacal oasis of nature in the village, which has already inspired world-renowned artists and famous muses.
Mountains are silent masters and make silent disciples.

Three imposing mountain massifs enclose Seeboden on lake Millstätter See like a protective wall encloses a secret garden. At its centre, a beguiling bouquet of flowers blossoms out of old orchards, wooded hills and terraced landscapes as well as fields, meadows and varied water spectacles. The most beautiful flowers in this bouquet can be picked on a variety of attractive promenades, as well as walking and hiking trails leading to the most magnificent vantage points in the landscape. Traditional village squares that tell ancient stories, natural streams that carry the blood of the region, its fresh, strong water, like veins, and unique parks created by masters of garden art.
Tschiernock, Seeboden’s landmark mountain, is impressive on many levels. Thanks to its unconventional north-south orientation, it has always served as a bridge between lake Millstätter See and the Nockberge mountains, and as a southern crossing point when crossing the northern Alps. Countless heroes have left their mysterious traces here, such as Haden, giant beings with superhuman powers who lived in the gorges and caves of the mountain and shaped its appearance. If you look closely, you can still see their castles today and discover the treasures they left behind. For those who do not find what they are looking for, you can still retreat to a traditional mountain hut and enjoy regional delicacies.
No Carinthian Easter snack that hits the spot would be complete without a slice of genuine Carinthian Reindling cake. This sweet cake is refined with finely grated walnuts, rum-soaked raisins and caramelized sugar, and tells a fluffy chapter of traditional Carinthian culinary history. In the confectioneries and restaurants around lake Millstätter See, the classic dessert is served both traditionally and creatively reinterpreted.
