Under the motto “The European Hiking Village as the capital of it`s mythical landscape” met tourism and hiking specialists from Germany, South Tyrol and Austria from 22 to 23 October for the Second International Hiking Village Symposium in Scheffau (Tyrol). Together with representatives of Austria’s Hiking Villages and the TAO Consulting and Management GmbH, which is responsible for the project development and organization, they designed the roadmap for the development of Europe’s Hiking Villages, discussed the conditions of participation for interested villages, the criteria for their successful certification and fixed the next milestones on the roadmap of the project implementation.

After a more theory based First International Hiking Villages Symposium in La Val, the meeting in Scheffau was designed more practical. As one of four villages of the Austrian Hiking Villages flagship Wilder Kaiser, Scheffau is the blueprint of the since 25 years successful quality concept of the cooperation and illustrated with practical examples the requirements, possibilities and design measures for the success of European Hiking Villages.

In the course of an insightful Village Adventure Day the tourism specialists could not just listen to inspiring lectures by experienced practitioners from the region, but also be convinced of the qualities of a refreshing experience water loop road and the final project concept of European Hiking Vilages. A village fair four star lunch at the Chalet Hotel Leitenhof and an entertaining works tour by the landlord Manfred Hautz rounded a through and through successful event.
