Our passion is to inspire and excite nature and hiking lovers about Europe’s mythical landscapes. A passion that we bring under one roof across Europe. Our aim is simple: to cross borders to find the rare and the mysterious in our continent’s natural beauties.
The European Hiking Quality seal means European Hiking Villages have met stricter, binding quality criteria. The advantage lies in further developing all members into European hiking specialists of the highest level and to link places together.
When European Hiking Villages were born in 1991, TAO Beratungs- und Management GmbH showed courage to let a big idea grow. The aim was to tangibly present people with the beauty of fascinating nature and scenic experiences in a perfectly staged manner. In other words, to create a platform of authentic hiking villages that awakens a desire to discover Europe’s landscapes.
We’re growing as our experience grows and we’re looking to exchange ideas with our members. Direct, personal discussions are extremely valuable for us when working together and developing further. Annual international hiking symposia create a feeling of closeness, strengthen and increase our shared understanding and our quality.
Nature works wonders, it’s down to me to enjoy it.

I think I have every right to say that I have turned my hobby into a career. I spend every day working on matters surrounding hiking and I travel to Europe’s most beautiful hiking destinations both professionally and personally. Since I was born in Slovenia and grew up in Austria, the Alpe Adria area is my favourite and one of the most beautiful hiking areas to my mind.
